Karhulanvaara - "Beary Hill", a part of the beautiful Kainuu

Karhulanvaara - a part of the beautiful Kainuu (Beary Hill in English) in Suomussalmi, Finland has been the centre of culture in the area since the 1780's. Later generations have come to know Karhulanvaara as a bastion for education. The present activities, mainly educational, will cease within year 2010. Therefore, the municipality of Suomussalmi has started an EU-funded project to find a new operator with a new operational concept to the Hill.
